If you come to visit

we’d have plenty of time to finish those conversations

and enough time to revisit one’s we’ve already finished

and maybe we could even find new ones to start

because the cafés here are open later than Seattle

which would always send us home

way before I got to the point I wanted to make

because you kept distracting me with your stories

because I couldn’t help but ask why

because you knew about Margaret Atwood

and I knew about Dostoevsky

So if you come to visit

I’ll pick you up from the train station

we’ll go check out water lilies

and we’ll only go to bed

when you stop making sense
